Shantaram.. the list is endless.
Their imaginative and talented work created pieces of art which were a matter of pride for entire Marathi films.
These artist formed in the moulds created due to the progressive thoughts and acts of Shahu Chhatrapati, were sensitive to the movements, reforms in the society and they themselves were trying to bring about similar transformation in the society due to the films. Hence many films with social message were created. On the other hand, due to rich historical tradition, many films on historical themes were also conceived. In addition humorous, family drama or mystery were also created. Sooner, Kolhapur became epicenter of the Marathi Cinema.
The batten of such a rich tradition was passed on from one generation to the next. The transformations taking place in the technology of the movies was reflected in the film industry of Kolhapur. Eastman colour film followed the black and white films. It was followed by colour by Technicolor and so on. The film industry used to accept the changes and taking them in strides, it was getting enriched and developed with time.
Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde, Alka Kubal, Nivedita Joshi, Priya Berde were some of the examples of rank and file of the younger generation.
The film industry experienced many transformations. It passed through many extremities. It had experience whooping profit and infuriating losses. It had undergone the phases of continuous тАШHouse FullтАЩ Box office hits as well as the flops from the first day first show. Through all ups and downs the film industry in Kolhapur kept the тАШshow going onтАЩ. As it sustained create many records.
Every transformation in the society was to be reflected in the films. The films continued to entertain the audience. Folk lores, folk music, dance as well as modern music, dance and modern outlook had a thoughtful fusion in the Marathi Film industry.
It culminated into the foundation of Jayaprabh Studio and Shant Kiran Studio.
Marathi movie was equated to Kolhapur at one time. As the time changed, the media such as television, art forms such as series and episodes. It was feared that the traditional marathi film was lagging behind. It was only momentary.
Again the newer generation came forward, with the newer thought process and the films of Kolhapur were to take a new turn.
As a part of that transformation is the Cine City of Kolhapur.
Now it is shedding the old skin to create new and modern incarnation with all the infrastructure facility in the Cine City.



The historical place where the golden era of Marathi film industry was conceived and nurtured, is also recognised as Kala pur. The city of arts! The film city as of now.
Under the blessings and patronage of Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj and due to the efforts of Baburao Painter the seed of the Kolhapur Film city was sowed.

It was further fortified due to the people like Bhalaji Pendharkar, Master Vinayak, V.Shantaram, Lata Mangeshkar, Chandrakant, Suryakant, , Dada Kondake and their struggle, striving and the perspiration, the seed was culminated into a grand tree. In such ripe soil, many Marathi films were created which were competing with each other for quality and class.

As the time fled, the people, the buildings, and the studios who conceived it, were to succumb to the forces of time. But they passed on the legacy of love, passion and vision to their succeeding generations.

Due to the same legacy, the newer generation have created the new, up dated Film City.

In the southern Kolhapur, the 78 Acre land in Morewadi is culminated into a film city with advanced facilities, up to date technologies and full of the desired amenities.
